Collaborative Art Books |
| Something new that is becoming really popular is Collaborative Art Books. Basically how these work is the hostess comes up with a theme and then people sign up to participate. Each person makes a page, then provides one copy for each person participating. Sometimes the hostess will say making colour copies of the original page is okay, sometimes they will want each copy made by hand. In some book projects you may colour copy your original but add an embellishment to each page to make the book more tactile and interactive. This is my new favourite art project. |

| This is a collaborative art book on grief. I really wanted to do this theme as a way to continue to process a loss I was grieving. With the help of my dear friend Penn and 10 other artist friends, the book was created. It has exceeded anything I had envisioned and I am so proud of everyone's work. I know it's a little odd, but I love cemeteries. There just so much interesting history hidden away there and I thought it would make a perfect subject for a collaborative book. This book combines real photographs with artwork to create an very unique book. The results were fantastic! |

I hosted this book on the theme of "mothers" for my friend Caren McNee after she lost her mother in September 2006. It took 3 1/2 months to reach her by mail. We were so worried it had been lost, but it finally did turn up and is safely in her posession now. |

Breast Friends
This collaborative was hosted in support of Joanna Pierotti who was diagnosed with breast cancer in the fall of 2006.

Artfest House Collaborative

I thought it would be fun to host a collaborative book for all the ladies staying in our house at Artfest. I asked everyone to make one set of pages talking about who they are and the other to showcase their art. This is the cover I designed for our house-shaped book. |
